Meet your representatives

Ai Li Kueh
Elected

Hello – My husband, Yang, and I have two children at Merrin, Samuel in Year 2 and Nathan who will start in Term 4 this year as a Year 0. I am originally from Malaysia, my parents moved to Christchurch when I was seven. I grew up in Christchurch completing my primary, secondary and tertiary education in Christchurch and thereafter worked in the legal and dairy sectors in Christchurch and overseas. I have benefited and been blessed by the opportunities that this community has provided me both personally and professionally and relish the opportunity to serve and give back. I have recently returned to legal practice in Christchurch after having worked overseas in Singapore, China and the Middle East and then taking a break to be a mum. Yang and I want to be more involved in our children’s education. Yang has been involved in the PTA since Samuel started at Merrin and I hope to have the opportunity to support the Board of Trustees and the teaching and administration staff who are critical to the success of Merrin.

Claire Miller
Elected

Kia Ora, my name is Claire Miller. I have two children currently at Nga Whetu Kohara Merrin School.

Our family moved to Merrin from another school and haven't looked back. We love the way the staff support all of the students to be their best selves. This year I joined the board of trustees when another member left and I am keen to continue to serve.

Earlier this year I set up and started running the Merrin School library. It was a great joy to see the tamariki come into the library and choose books to take home and read. I am now working at Papanui High as a librarian.

I also run a local Pippin unit and help in a Girl Guide Unit.

I have a good knowledge of neurodiversity and how schools can support children with different neurotypes. Merrin is already a great school for children with different neurodiversities and I want to use my knowledge to help it become even better.

I have enjoyed my time on the board of trustees this year and am committed to continuing to support our school.
